These case studies illustrate some of the recent work we have carried out.
Evaluation and Research
Developing an evaluation framework: This assignment is working with Westminster Primary Care Trust Community Health Improvement Department to develop an evaluation framework, which captures 'what works' in health inequalities and health promotion programmes. A self-evaluation model is being developed with local projects.
Evaluation of Ageing Well, a health promotion programme for older people: This research, commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government in partnership with Age Concern England, was carried out with the Institute for Health Research, University of Swansea. The aim was to assess the impact of the Ageing Well programme and to make recommendations for the future. Our role was to assist in the design of research instruments, recruit a sample population in England, assist in the data collection through focus groups and one to one interviews, support the analysis of the data and contribute to the writing of the final report and dissemination process. In particular, we offered expertise in the lay health promotion model and the public health policy context.

Strategy Development
Healthy Ageing Framework:We are working with Manchester City Council, Joint Health Unit, to embed a healthy ageing approach across the city, which will address inequalities in life expectancy. There is a particular focus on engaging people in midlife, especially older men, through delivering services in the workplace, and other community venues.
Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust: We assisted in the development of the JSNA, in partnership with Shared Intelligence. In particular we offered expert advice on the data analysis of ageing issues.
Developing an engagement strategyWe worked with the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement to design and deliver a co-production project for improving public confidence that healthcare facilities are clean and safe. We worked in partnerships with designers and digital media specialists to develop processes and products for local NHS trusts to engage patients, staff and the wider public in coming up with solutions. The products were co-developed, tested and refined in real life situations, and guidance written to support local application.
